The Antique Enamel Company was founded in London by John Jaffa. John has been one of London’s premier dealers in 18th to early 20th century English and Continental enamels, gold boxes, Objects of Vertu, tort & pique items, musical bird boxes, silver cigarette cases, porcelain, desk seals, etui & sewing items, papier mâché, Fabergé and rare perfume bottles for the past three decades.
Nancy McLarty (1925-2001) started her collection of English enamels in the early 1980s. A gift of a Samson box sparked her interest, and she subsequently collected enamels that were either shaped as or painted with animals. A discerning subject expert, she worked with The Antique Enamel Company, and a group select British dealers, to build a significant collection over a twenty-year period. Upon her death all items were sold, rather than given to a museum, so that fellow collectors could enjoy her treasures.
The Khalili Collection Enamels Of The World 1700 to 2000 is one of the finest collections of its kind. It includes spectacular masterpieces from all the major global centres of enamelling. The Antique Enamel Company has supported Sir Nasser David Khalili since 2010, sourcing, verifying and securing exceptional objets de vertue.
Philanthropist and lifelong entrepreneur, Carl DeSantis, was a client of The Antique Enamel company for many years. His rare box collection was exceptional. Our global specialists sourced and secured rare gold and antique enamel boxes for Mr DeSantis. His collection was sold by Sothebys in 2011.
