Circa 1765/70. Modelled as the head of Floral MacDonald, wearing blue earrings, with heavily rouged cheeks and dark hair pulled up into a coiffured bun under a purple and grey bonnet, the verso with metal mounted hinged lid decorated as the back of her bonnet, she was a member of the MacDonalds of Sleat, who helped Charles Edward Stuart evade government troops after the Battle of Culloden in April 1746. Her family supported the government during the 1745 Rising and Flora later claimed to have assisted Charles out of sympathy for his situation.
